No matter where you are in North Carolina or Texas, therapy can come to you with flexible scheduling and convenient video sessions.
Let us help you release the pain that's holding you back in life.
Unlike traditional psychotherapy, EMDR is not a "talk therapy" based modality. Client and therapist will work together to create a target plan of memories and their corresponding negative beliefs and symptoms. Initial sessions will also include "resourcing" work where client and therapist will work to establish safety and effective grounding techniques. In "processing" sessions, client and therapist will work through the predetermined target plan using bilateral stimulation. Hand tappers and eye movements are most commonly used form of bilateral stimulation.
EMDR Therapy a world class trauma-based therapy.
Some of the studies show that 84%-90% of single-trauma victims no longer have post-traumatic stress disorder after only three 90-minute sessions. Another study, funded by the HMO Kaiser Permanente, found that 100% of the single-trauma victims and 77% of multiple trauma victims no longer were diagnosed with PTSD after only six 50-minute sessions. In another study, 77% of combat veterans were free of PTSD in 12 sessions. Millions of people have been treated successfully over the past 25 years. Many associations and studies recognize EMDR as a very effective approach to treatment.
This self-compassion exercise will help you slow down and turn inwards, especially when the world is feeling heavy & chaotic. You have a hard time saying no & setting boundaries, and find yourself stuck in people pleasing. Together we will break the cycle of anxiety, perfectionism or burnout, so you can live a more fulfilling life with ease and balance. I truly believe that everyone has the tools and potential to deal with and face their life challenges, adversities, conflicts, and pain. Together, we will find your own ability to live a better life with yourself and your relationships because the quality of our relationships with others can determine the quality of our own lives.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
With EMDR, these memories which have been stored as trauma experiences will be reprocessed so that the memory will remain, but the person will be able to recall the event at will without reliving it. It is often helpful to have one or two sessions with the individual to fully understand the nature of their problem to determine if EMDR therapy will be an appropriate treatment. During these sessions, the therapist will answer any questions the prospective patient may have about EMDR.
EMDR's effects are most marked on self-reported measures of anxiety; its impact on physiological measures linked to anxiety (such as heart rate) is less clear-cut. More than 500 brands of psychotherapy exist, with new ones springing up on a nearly monthly basis. Although a handful of these neophyte treatments have been tested in scientific studies, it is anybody's guess whether the others actually work. A Wilmington, North Carolina native, I have provided therapy in outpatient settings, schools, behavioral health facilities, and homes for many years. I am trained in EMDR through the Trauma Institute and Child Trauma Institute in Massachusetts.

EMDR helps the brain to fully process the event so we can understand the event and let go of negative beliefs we had about the traumatic event. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that helps people to heal from the symptoms and emotional pain. I have worked in the counseling field for over 20 years providing mental health counseling for individuals, couples, and families. Please take the time to learn about my work-style and the help that I can offer. Individual therapy is a collaborative process between client and clinician. In order to accomplish your therapeutic goals, I utilize an evidence based and integrative approach.
What is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)?
Intrigued, Shapiro tried out variants of this procedure with her clients and found that they, too, felt better. Couple's relationships challenge our ability to communicate, collaborate, create boundaries, and enjoy healthy intimacy. Couples Therapy helps recognize and solve conflicts in a positive environment. One of the most valuable journeys in a person's life is the one that we do within ourselves. Recognizing our pain and our challenges can lead us to find our strengths.
Therapists will work with their clients to find the pace and bilateral stimulation that works best. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from emotional trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain.
I most often use talk-therapy based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I utilize evidence based counseling models in a developmentally appropriate way when working with preteens and teens. I support and involve parents in the counseling process to provide holistic care that helps the whole family.
Bilateral Stimulation repeatedly activates both hemispheres of the brain. These eye movements mimic the period of sleep referred to as rapid eye movement or REM sleep, as this portion of sleep is frequently considered to be the time when the mind processes the recent events in the person’s life. EMDR therapy uses a technique called bilateral stimulation to repeatedly activate opposite sides of the brain. This bilateral stimulation is most often performed via eye movements but can also be administered by touch and/or sound. These eye movements mimic the period of sleep referred to as rapid eye movement or REM sleep; this stage of sleep is when the mind is attempting to processes recent events. EMDR seems to help the brain reprocess the trapped memories in such a way that normal information processing is resumed.
In the 1980s, Francine Shapiro, Ph.D, found a connection between eye movement and disturbing memories that would not subside. Sometimes we are in crisis and just need help regaining our footing and finding a next step. I am equipped to help you reground yourself after a crisis and find the long term care you need. I am trained in an EMDR based protocol called 'A-tip' that is designed to reduce distress and prevent PTSD related symptoms after a crisis.
Renee helps teens and adults heal their trauma so they can get back to living life and feeling safe in the world. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a fast, effective treatment that works with memories of past or recent events. After taking part in this therapy, our emotions settle down, our thoughts get more reasonable, and we become more at peace with ourselves, others, and the world around us. How many sessions will be required will be based on the type of problem, personal circumstances and the degree of the trauma. EMDR may be used within a standard “talking” therapy, as an adjunctive therapy with a separate therapist, or as a treatment all by itself.

The powder, once loosened from the pan, applied beautifully to bare skin and blended out well without emphasizing my skin’s natural texture. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading visibly. Another favorite for Grogan is Tom Ford's Shade & Illuminate Cream Contour Duo. "I love this one because it comes in four shades, so there's more than just one option," she says. It leads to people like me getting shades, it’s that powerful. Nudegasm (Sculpt) is a light-medium brown with muted, almost yellowy-olive undertones and a matte finish. It had a very firm, stiff texture that I had to really dig at to loosen product, which yielded more medium, buildable coverage in practice. The powder was blendable and applied evenly to bare skin, but it required some effort to get it out of the pan itself initially. I like most of my products from CT, most of the time I find nothing in the collections though. I have a few LE lipsticks that I love, these new ones will not join my stash. I do like Supermodel and hope I have some near enough dupe, if not I’ll forget about it when the next new interesting lipstick appears. Yep, it’s definitely medium-centric, which means that it would work great for me. Well, provided I felt like laying out $75, that is.As for there being only one Nudegasm palette, I also feel that she ought to have offered at least one more version, and had another blush instead of two sculpting shades. It was ever-so-slightly firmer than the average gel-powder hybrid formula, which already require using a denser, slightly more moderate-to-heavy hand approach (but then they have no powderiness and seem to “melt” on skin a bit).

The highlighter didn’t emphasize my skin’s natural texture and lasted well for eight and a half hours on my skin. As a standalone highlighter, this shade stayed on well for eight and a half hours. There is not really much I like from this collection – starting from the name; is CT copying NARS in its Orgasm obsession? The only shade here I like is Superfabulous, but I am sure it can be duped. New York City-based makeup artist Benjamin Puckey previously told Allure that if you have the right contouring products, you can instantly help your face appear to be more three-dimensional. Once applied, the powder blended out without too much effort and wore well for eight and a half hours before fading noticeably. Nudegasm (Multi-Glow) is a medium, coppery-orange with warm undertones and fine, gold pearl throughout that gave it a luminous glow on the skin. It had opaque color coverage, though the texture was firmer and a little stiffer, which became more yielding after a few uses but be careful when finger-swatching as it may compact the product further. Nudegasm (Super Glow) is a light, peachy gold with strong, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a smooth, slightly firmer texture, but it picked up evenly with a moderately-dense brush and blended out with ease.

Now it's time to pick your perfect contouring palette. We spoke to some of our favorite makeup artists to help us break down the 11 best contouring palettes so you can live your best-chiseled life.
This was the least warm-toned shade that I've swatched within the formula, so I could see it being more versatile across undertones as a result. The texture was smooth, lightweight, thin, and fluid without being watery (more like a cross between water and gel), which helped it blend well with moisturizer, primer, or foundation or be spread across larger areas (like all over the face). The doe-foot applicator made getting just a touch out easier for highlighting the high points of the face, though it was less useful for getting product for mixing in. While Smashbox's Step-By-Step Contour Kit only comes in Light/Medium and Medium/Dark colorways, the contour shades are highly pigmented and work for most skin tones. Plus, the highlighter shade in the palette is ideal for brightening and setting your undereyes.
“I have no regrets.” Underneath her cynicism, though, is a burning desire for a last grasp at life at its most vivid. Sometimes she reaches up to the wings of the collar of her white shirt and brings them together, a physical gesture of closing off the flow of her voice. She is that vociferous champion of feminism and apparent libertine who earlier in her career scandalized fans by implying in an interview that she was engaged in a lusty ménage à trois. Having won several awards for her performance in "45 Years," released in 2015, the graceful septuagenarian could be crowned once again at the upcoming Academy Awards on February 28, as she is nominated for Best Actress.

Here's a look back at a career characterized by mysterious sex appeal. Her death was a crushing, life-changing blow for Rampling, although her father did not reveal the cause of her death until years later. After this, her acting career blossomed in both English and French cinema. The "Alida" documentary tells the life and career of the great Italian actress Alida Valli, through her private writings, letters and diaries, family films, important testimonials and much of the material never seen before. The Damned was the breakthrough film for Helmut Berger, who is given an "Introducing" credit, even though he had already appeared in Visconti's segment of the anthology film The Witches. Dirk Bogarde later expressed disappointment with Visconti for sacrificing his character's development to place a greater focus on Berger's Martin.

She was sharing a house with Bryan Southcombe (her future husband and the father of her eldest son Barnaby) and the male model Randall Laurence, “I was very frank. But we weren’t thinking, oh, if I say this, shouldn’t perhaps say that, because I mean, now we have to think what the young people think. Because it’s not correct, it’s not this, it’s not that, but then it was like, when David Wigg of the Daily Express asked me, which one do you love?
News & Interviews for Charlotte Rampling
But Rampling has consistently shown her ability to subtly dramatize strong, sometimes contradictory inner states. In her later films, she can command the viewer’s interest simply by walking down a street or lying alone in a bed — but she has possessed this command from the start. Rampling starred in Claude Lelouch's 1984 film Viva la vie (Long Live Life), before going on to star in the cult-film Max, Mon Amour (1986), and appear in the thriller Angel Heart (1987). In the late 1990s, she appeared in The Wings of the Dove (1997), played Miss Havisham in a BBC television adaptation of Great Expectations (1998), and starred in the film adaptation of Anton Chekov’s The Cherry Orchard (1999), directed by Michael Cacoyannis.[citation needed].
Back in Britain, Rampling’s distinctive looks were soon recognized by a casting agent and she never looked back. Rampling could easily have made her career in the UK but was sought after by Italian directors, including Gianfranco Mingozzi and Luchino Visconti. She was never to be pinned down in predictable roles, and acted in diverse productions, from TV series including The Avengers, and opposite Yul Brynner in the adventure film The Long Duel, to playing Anne Boleyn in the costume drama Henry VIII and His Six Wives. Rampling’s talent was soon in demand both in the UK, USA and in Europe and it seemed almost destined that Europe would win out when she fell in love and married the French composer Jean-Michel Jarre, and made her home in France in 1978. Tessa Charlotte Rampling OBE (born 5 February 1946)[1] is an English actress.[2][3] An icon of the Swinging Sixties, she began her career as a model.[4] She was cast in the role of Meredith in the 1966 film Georgy Girl, which starred Lynn Redgrave. She soon began making French and Italian arthouse films, notably Luchino Visconti's The Damned (1969) and Liliana Cavani's The Night Porter (1974).

Herbert surprises everyone when he enters and reveals that, although Sophie had supposedly made arrangements for Elizabeth and her daughters to join Herbert in exile, they were really arrested and sent to Dachau, where Elizabeth died. Now a broken man, Herbert has returned to confess to murdering Joachim, in exchange for the release of his daughters. Günther, upset by this news, is enraged when Martin reveals that Friedrich killed Konstantin, and Aschenbach is able to use his hate to radicalize him to the Nazi cause. Many high-ranking members of the SA, including Konstantin, gather at a hotel in Bad Wiessee.
We don’t notice how expressive ordinary people are unless we love them enough (or are frightened enough by them) to pay real attention. But everyone is uniquely expressive, even in the smallest gestures. We are so immersed in the parade of character in daily life that we don’t typically see this unless it startles us; we don’t have time to notice all the things that people are telling us. When we see this ordinary expressiveness through a camera’s lens, however, it is amazing, even if what is being conveyed is pure realism heightened just slightly through disciplined art. ‘‘45 Years,’’ for instance, is made of small movements and gestures that reflect big emotional shifts, the kind that alter lives.
Farewell, My Lovely
Tabloid stories of Jarre’s affairs with other women proved too demeaning for Rampling and the marriage was dissolved in 1997, their divorce finalized in 2002. Rampling’s last partner was the French journalist Jean-Noel Tassez, who died in 2015. Rampling spoke out in 2016 about the efforts to boycott that year’s Oscar ceremonies over a lack of “racial diversity,” amongst nominees who were “racist to whites.” She later apologized that her comments had been misinterpreted.
The film was condemned and celebrated with equal fervor during its release, but all parties agreed that Rampling's performance, which featured her in feverish scenes of morbid fetishism, was the film's highlight. The picture did much to cement Rampling as the thinking man's sex symbol, as did a 1973 layout for Playboy shot by Helmut Newton and a widespread rumor that she lived in a ménage-a-trois with her then-husband, publicist Bryan Southcombe, and male model Randall Laurence. Some reviewers attribute this ability to her mysterious, preternatural charisma and abiding beauty, and that is part of it. But it is also her actively focused talent for the natural representation of real people.

In 1997, she was a jury member at the 54th Venice International Film Festival. It was David, though, who rang her from Argentina to tell her he was at his aunt’s grave in Buenos Aires, with his cousin, the only son of her elder sister Sarah. I want to be with you.” Rampling tells of the girl with whom she made her stage debut at 14, in Stanmore parish hall, singing French songs in fishnets and raincoats, before they sneaked off after school together to do the same at an audition for a club in Piccadilly. At 21, Sarah left to visit New York, then went on to Acapulco, where she met a rich cattle rancher, and within a week had married him. She won many awards for her performance in "45 Years" - and now she might also get an Oscar.
Rampling has admitted that she doesn’t make films to entertain people, that she chooses roles to challenge herself, to break through her own barriers. She was made an OBE in 2000 for her services to the arts; she received an Honorary Cesar in 2001; France’s Legion d’Honneur in 2002; a Lifetime Achievement Award from the European Film Awards in 2015. She was awarded the 2017 Volpi Cup for best actress at the 74th Venice International Film Festival. I generally don’t make films to entertain people, I choose the parts that challenge me to break through my own barriers. A need to devour, punish, humiliate, or surrender seems to be a primal part of human nature, and it’s certainly a big part of sex.
From there, Rampling was the superior of a Secret Service agent (Sean Bean) determined to stop a suicide bombing in the taut British thriller "Cleanskin" (2012). She went on to earn critical praise and A SAG award nod for her turn as a mother whose daughter investigates her past as a World War II spy in the made-for-cable movie "Restless" (Sundance Channel, 2012), which was adapted from William Boyd's award-winning novel. As Rampling reached her sixth decade, her career showed no signs of slowing down.
